It has been quite a week for Brussels and its inhabitants, who suddenly found themselves in a lockdown due to terror alert. The biggest victims of this all were the small store, bar and restaurant owners, who suddenly saw their place empty. The first day of the lockdown we payed a visit to Ami, Veggie and happy food. On a normal Saturday this place is packed and we made a reservation this time, just to be sure. When we arrived for lunch the place was empty and stayed like that for most of lunch time. I hope this will not happen to them anymore, as the lunch we ate was really delicious. The place is nicely decorated in a warm and light atmosphere. I especially liked the bamboo counter and shelves.
Bram and Reece went for one the soup of the day…one mushroom soup and a potato/lemon/dill soup. Both were full of flavor, but the winner was definitely the potato soup, with its fresh taste. The guys than had a delicious toast. Reece a Ratatouille one and Bram one with black olive spread. I had a really great Argentin Veggie burger. Unlike many veggie burgers, AMI’s one was really yummy and moist. It was topped with manchego cheese, roasted pepper, rocket salad and chimichurri. With it I had a nice green salad and a bulgur salad with feta and tomato. The only advice I can give you is to take at least two burgers. To end this lovely lunch we had a lovely cheesecake.
We will surely come back to AMI and I hope next time the place is packed with people again. So people, don’t fear, go out and enjoy life…and in the case of AMI it’s even a quite healthy one.
